I love the world of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), its probably one of my favourite areas of what we do at Optix. That's helped by having some incredible talent in the business who keep me uptodate, as it moves so fast and can get very technical.
In August 2022 we saw the rollout of what Google termed their 'Helpful Content Update'. It feels a bit reminiscent of the Panda update back in 2011.
Then in December 2022 we saw the same thing, only globally this time.
Then in September 2023 we saw a third addition to the trilogy.
If Google do something 3 times you can assume that's pretty big.
I won't spoil the video but essentially the update aims to crack down on poor quality content on websites. The question is - does your site fall into this category?

The action here is to get this into your team straightaway.
You need them to understand the recent changes and what makes Google tick. Here are Google's own Guidelines on the subject.
I would recommened a content audit (if you need help, contant me) and then they can go to work on the actions. This will likely involve culling certain content but most importantly applying a set of new rules to anything newly created.
